The development of the network will focus on clear principles to ensure that the network maximises the benefits to conservation and minimises the short term impact on those who use the sea.
A comprehensive and gradual development process will ensure that each MPA will be evaluated for its value as an individual area, |

its contribution to biodiversity and place in the network as a whole.
In particular the project will set out to ensure that each MPA is viable, connected, replicated across the region and representative of the main habitats. |
