Our Interactive Map is a tool that allows you to view maps of the south-west and the rest of England, showing the data the four regional projects are gathering to inform the planning of Marine Conservation Zones.
The primary role of the Interactive Map was to allow all sea users to share their information with the project, so we have an accurate picture of how the seas in the south-west are used for sea angling, diving, fishing, sailing, kayaking, for watersports and by charter boat operators. This information is being used by the Steering Group to help them plan Marine Conservation Zones carefully.
Finding Sanctuary completed its stakeholder activity mapping work in October 2010. Any information added to the interctive map after this will not be able to be fed into the Steering Group for consideration.
We also see it as an important communication tool as it shows you to explore the diversity and range of information that is being used by the Finding Sanctuary project. We hope that you discover more about the relationship between mankind and the coasts and seas of the south-west.
