Our Vision for 2016

Five years after the South West MPA network will have been set up and we will expect to be seeing seagrass, algal beds and soft corals flourishing. Fish, crabs and other invertebrates will be attracted to the area to search for prey and protection.

With areas protected from physical damage and the removal and destruction of non-target species we expect to see a gradual recovery-initially inside the area that is protected, but ultimately spreading to other areas of the surrounding coasts. In many cases the changes are likely to be slow and unpredictable particularly for the larger slow growing species
